If I already have an existing homepage but then create a hidden page to redesign the homepage, what is the best way to just make the hidden page my new homepage?

I know you can set the hidden page to be the homepage (of course unhide it) but I am asking because doing it that way can make for some crazy loops and redirects which sometimes cause errors.

Is there an "advised way" to take a hidden page and make it the homepage? I am currently using
DNN 9.1.1
