I know that some of the DNN modules Q&A, Blog, Contest, have been integrated with DNN 6.2. Can you provide a road map for other modules that will be upgraded to integrate with the activity journals, and user and group profiles?
One of the biggest holes that needs to be filled for DNN 6.2 is file and document management. Could the core File Manager module be upgraded to work with the journal and profiles? There are already file manager providers that work with the core File Manager module on the market that let us use S3, Azure, Dropbox, UNC, etc for back end file storage. So simply upgrading the existing module would at least give us one solution for this.
I recently engaged in a conversation with a major document management module developer, who is also listed as a DNN Trustee. He said it would be at least a year before he really considered making upgrades that require him to move his dependencies onto DNN 6.2.Nobody wants to wait a year. We have already been waiting for years for this.
Upgrading the Repository module might be another good one.
People who are trying to build on DNN 6.2, since before it was built into the core, really need some support with at least a few more core modules that we can use in the gap before module developers are willing to move forward with DNN 6.2. It would be great to see DNN put some serious effort into this instead of just looking for some other direction for DNN 7.
