There is a thread in the forum about this, but we still need some clarification.

It is definitely not possible to change role names using the DNN API, so role names can be changed in the database, and after clearing the cache, everything works as expected.

But: why is there no such functionality in the core? What is the reason for not being able to change a role name using the administration interface or API? Are there any issues, eg with legacy modules, core functionality etc.? Where are the pitfalls in doing this?
