I understand that I can improve initial site load by limiting the number of modules I have installed (and the resulting DLL's in the bin folder).

We've taken this advice to heart and have removed all 3rd party and custom modules that we are no longer using.

But what about the core modules?  I'm running DNN 6 Pro and I don't need things like Taxonomy, What's New, User Switcher, Security Center, Newsletters, My Modules, Messaging, Commerce, etc.

I realize I can uninstall these, but what will happen with future DNN upgrades?  Will these core modules come back and require removal again?
