We have a link-spamming site sending tons of bogus traffic to a specific page in one of our DNN portals. 

Our SEO consultants are worried about negative effects this might have on our online advertising and how Google/Bing/etc rank our site quality.

I've poking around for a way to "block" this unwanted traffic and it seems that the REQUEST FILTERING option found in HOST | HOST SETTINGS might fit the bill.

Is anyone else using this feature?  For a similar purpose?  Any pitfalls to watch out for?

Any advice would be appreciated.
