I'm experiencing serious troubles defending DNN over for example Wordpress websites to web developer colleagues, SEO specialists and even customers.

Main reason is the "ugly" html code output and especially ASP.Net ViewState which is a SEO killer (or at least customers perceive it this way)

To me the ViewState seems not used for 80% of the DNN websites (except in Edit mode etc of course)

I think in order for DNN to survice in the competitive environment of SEO optimized website frameworks (such as ASP.Net MVC!) we should:

• Disable ASP.Net ViesSate by default
• Make module developers responsible for enabling ViewState when needed (for example in Edit Mode or for Forms) Just like we do when we need for example JQuery scripts
• Move the ViewState to the bottom of the Page (http://www.hanselman.com/blog/MovingViewStateToTheBottomOfThePage.aspx)
