First: I did a backup of both the DB and folder structure first.

That out of the way, I downloaded the Upgrade package for 4.3.7.  My site was at version 4.0.2.  I extracted the files, and allowed it to overwrite anything it wanted.

Then I renamed release.config to web.config, and opened my backup of web.config- copied over everything in the <connectionStrings> and <appSettings> tags.

I went to my site, clicked the link to preform the upgrade, and it looked like everything went smoothly.  No errors.

But--- I can't login.  Tells me I have an invalid username or password (using host username)  I can't email myself the info, and I know it's correct because I use RoboForm.  It worked 20 minutes ago.

Tried to use my "user account" and that also did not work.  I was able to register a new account, but of course can't give that user admin rights, or especially host rights.

As a last resort, I stopped the web instance in ISS, killed at DB connections, and restored both my DB and folder structure to how it was the other day.  Now when I try to login, it just keeps goes back to page I was viewing.  Does not give any errors, and does not load any of the admin features.

I would like to either get it back to where it was, or to the upgrade.

Running on Win 2k3, SP1
IIS V 6.0
MS SQL 2005
SQLExecMS V2.6 as a DB Tool
Was on DNN 4.0.2, trying to go to DNN 4.3.7

Feel free to let me know if you need further info.

I just attempted to "upgrade" my "restored" data.  I made sure I copied over the machinekeys this time.  The "upgrade" again finished without error, but I am still having the problem that when I log in, it just goes to the page I was previously looking at.  No admin tools across the top, and in addition, it does not acknowlege that I've logged in, by showing my name at the top of the page.  The login link is there as if I never logged in.

One thing you might check is the password length that changed from minimum 4 to 7.  I believe that is in the web.config.

My old password was 10 chars.  So I assume we can rule that out?  Or are you saying change it back to minimum of 4, and see if that fixes anything?
