I totally agree! The Ventrian modules should get a second live...
Scott told me the modules are build in VB and that's the reason he stopped the development of the modules.
He doesn't have time to rebuild them to C#/MVC.
For now we just need good/friendly urls for the module but an alternative would be great.
We tried the alternatives of dignuke, easydnn and mandeeps but the modules can't replace the Ventrian module the way we should like..

I think you can make a lot of money by rebuilding the module in C#/MVC and sell in the store...

It's too early to think about MVC support right now. MVC support doesn't exist yet in DNN. There are tools to convert VB.NET to C# and I happen to use one. Some manual fixing might be needed but the majority of the conversion can be done in a few minutes.

Hi Williem

"Scott told me the modules are build in VB and that's the reason he stopped the development of the modules. He doesn't have time to rebuild them to C#/MVC."

New information for me and very useful to know.

Some here are saying that conversion tools would make this easy but surely if it was this easy then Scott would have already done it?

"I think you can make a lot of money by rebuilding the module in C#/MVC and sell in the store."
Agreed!  I would happily pay $70 - $100 per site for NA or PA - which would probably make it a paying business.

Maybe Scott could license the code base to some entity?

"Scott told me the modules are build in VB.."

The only thing I can infer from this is that he doesn't want to develop in VB.NET anymore. There are no technical limitations in the language.

AFAIK, these modules were sold with source code. I have a vb.net to C# conversion tool and I am willing to use the tool for free for the interested. No guarantee the C# app will compile and work correctly. In fact it never did in the times I used it.

Here's a business opportunity. Buy the rights of the modules from the author, if he's willing, update them and sell them in the store.

To have friendly urls for NA (News Articles) and PA(Property Agent) you can use Open Url Provider! You can find it on Codeplex, it is open source and provided with source code.

About Ventrian modules I think that for NA there are a lot of alternative but about PA there is no choice, it is the only one module with all features provided with PA! With PA you can build everything in little time!

In addiction it is provided with source code and in some specific jobs it allow to add missing feature(although it is difficult to find someone)!

For future development of this modules or their alternative I think that Ventrian member selling formula is winning! In the past years I've paid to Ventrian more money than anyone else!

Scott should talk about all this and I do not understand why this silence!
