Hi,

I've spent a couple of hours now looking at the language file on my site (DNN 7) and researching all of the answer on the forums but I can't find an answer so i hope you can help?

The login details for my site currently ask for Email Address and Password

However, when you enter the email it doesn't work and actually needs the User Name to allow successful login.

I have been trying to find the label in the language file to change from "Email Address" to "User Name" but have had no luck, I found several entries with the text "Email Address" but having changed each one it hasn't changed the login page text.

Every other site I've built has always asked for User Name at the login details so I'm not sure why this one is different but if anyone can help me locate the right file that I need to update in the language pack I'd be really grateful!.

Thanks so much

Ian

are you using a custom authentication provider, or just the one that ships with DNN? DNN does allow you to use an email address as a login if you enable that option, but as far as I was aware there is an issue with it where it didn't change the text "username" to "email address"

Just in case anyone else is encountering this issue, the solution is actually very simple (after many hours of searching!)  There is a setting in the site settings which can be ticked/unticked to say use email address as login if you untick this it changes the text back to user name.

Simple when you know how! :)

thanks - I was aware of that setting but still thought it had a bug in it, clearly someone fixed it - thanks for the update.
