DNNsoftware.com still used the legacy DNNForum module and not the Active Forums. Chaging the toolbar is not allowed on DNNsoftware.com.

As you posted preview you installed the Active Forums Module this is a own module and didn't inherit from the DNNForum code. Off course it could be that there are some same code, but it is a own module, with own code.

So if you need Information to change some of the design you have to look at the Active Forums site at http://www.activeforums.com .

Some additional Information. Active Forums was created by Active Modules Inc. that was aquired Feb. 2011 from Dotnetnuke. So Active Forums didn't have anything to do with the DNNForum Module.

OK... I'm just trying to understand this since I spent almost two years working on the forum skinning with Chris - and it would be very nice to know! :-)

...so DNNSoftware.com uses the legacy DNN Forum Module - which has *nothing* to do with the forum module created by Active Forums. (Active Modules)

This is confusing to me since I have DNNSoftware.com forums open in IE's Developer Tools on one TAB - and Active Forums 5.0.3 in Development tools on another TAB - and they have almost the *exact* same structure and the *exact* same object classes. I'm not talking about 1 or two classes... I'm talking about 99% of them!

You can understand my confusion...

OK... I may have found the root of my confusion - it seems that the current DNN forum version has exactly the same version number as the current Active forums: 5.0.3

As a result, I installed the DNN Forums on my site - which is why its looks exactly the same as the DNNSoftware.com forum.

I am understand you, but it is fact that DNNSoftware still used the legancy DNNForum module.  I never have compared both modules on code or Stylesheet. But I know Active Forums have a other source code as the DNNForum.  Of course it could be that they have nearly the same classes for css, but they are different too.  Basic install of active Forums have a complete other style, other Management ...

I want to start a testing of the new ActiveForums after I finished Blog testing.  Then I could say anything more about it.

Notice:  We worked both on the legacy DNNForum module Team ;-) .
