Hello All,

A user of an existing DNN site has asked me to upload a bunch of HTML files that they use as a race results system.  Using some combination of Excel and FTP they upload a summary sheet, and that sheet contains links to HTML files with the race results.

It works perfectly well in a traditional ftp type website.

I have told them they need a separate hosting account and then they can use an IFrame to show the results site.

Am I correct?

Is it correct to say we cannot provide FTP access to a sub folder and then allow a bunch of html files to be uploaded to that folder?

I instinctively think I am correct in saying they cannot use DNN like they wish, but I just want to run it past here to be 100% sure.

thanks

Mark

Mark,
you may enable HTML upload in Host settings, but for security reasons I would stay away from this option and use FTP or WebDav for upload. Which folder may be used depends on the ftp server software being installed. If the files don't contain scripts, you may easily past the body content into an HTML module, but might need to add imported CSS to the skin of the page.

Hello Sebastian,

thank you for that reply, it gave me a lot of options.

You are correct about the ftp, that would solve one part of my challenge,  i.e., getting the files up there.

AFAIK, the application works with a HTML file which forms a sort of Index page, with links to all the child pages (Files).

I have never noticed any means that I could have a HTML file load dynamically into a text/html module.  ie, the Index Page will change regularly.

It is quite a deviation from the DNN concept, I think I am better to advise them DNN is not the platform of choice for this application.

Thanks for your time Sebastian,

Mark
