I'm getting lots of file permission errors that prevent me fromdoing almost anything (installing and configuring modules, upload files and anyother process involving files).

I have VPS running win server 2003. I've given to  of the website folder full access to the following group of users: network service, asp.net,system, administrators, IIS_WPG.
It didn't change a thing.
Only after giving "internet Guest Account" writing and modifying privileges to certain folders (I know that's bad but didn't find any other option) I can make my site partly function (until it giving me new "access denied" error for another folder).

Does anyone have an idea how can I solve it???

THX

Who is your application pool user?  Did you using dbo as your databaseOwner on the config.web file ?

IUser should have read permissions.

Application Pooluser should be have full permissions.

Permissions have to be inherit to all files and subfolders!

in iis manager - ApplicationPools/DefaultAppPool property, under identity it set as predefined:Network Service.

The database I'm using is external to the VPS (I don't have control over the server - only over the DB). In the DB i have the user mentioned in the connection string defined as dbo. in web config the only line that dbo is mentioned is :

It seems to me that the solution lies somewhere else...

Try re-register ASP.NET, be sure you have installed .NET 3.5 or above!

Check the default Schema of your database user on your database.
