I'd like to move our files from the standard file system to the database.  Some controls update when I move a file.  We use the HTML module a lot and the content has URLs to the images.  These don't get updated when I move a file.

  1. Is there a way to move the files updating all references including URLs?
  2. Is there a way to change references from relative URL so that file moves are "updated"?

I'm using DNN 6.1.3.

1. no, if you are not using links via LinkClick.aspx, you are not able to maintain the links. There are update tools for HTML module data, which will replace all links in all entries, but you will run an update statement per file
2. use linkclick.aspx links (ckEditor Provider - dnnckeditor.codplex.com) offers you the choice to select, whether you like to insert an absolute, a relative or a linkclick link.
3. IMHO it is not the best idea to save files in the database, this will slow down performance and increase processor load. if you need to secure access to your files, use Secure Folder (File System)

Thanks Sebastian.  Great advice as always.  I'll go through all of our html blocks and change them over to clicklinks.

On the database performance topic....  We're moving our deployment to Amazon's Cloud Services and I need the files centralized.  The database is one choice.  Do you have other recommendations?
