After hitting "Register" the screen did nothing (Using chrome) but it did register the new account as I got an email for it.

Should have bounced to another screen but didnt.

I registered, would not allow normal usernames (only email in field) I have recycled, cleared cache, restarted IIS...

Still could not log in with new user, so I checked the DB for its record to see how it was being inserted and there was none.

Sent me the authorization link email and new user registration email but didnt register the user and after switching back from "use email for username" it wants an email for a username instead of a normal username.

I know it should get fixed in next release I hope and since I dont see replies here there must be an open ticket so I will browse around for fixes more in the support and bug areas.

Thanks I see now I messed up thinking the email feature would work... It happened on a clean install as well as I started fresh with a new site to see all new features and test them...

Just some food for thought here I hope it helps. I will let you know if I can figure this one out :)

I have been reading some bug reports in gemini seems to be a few related issues but the chat is sorta discouraging.

I would think it is best to have a log in system that allows the use of :

Username or Email to log in. When you register you enter both now anyhow it would work best just need to modify code to check the email field for username.

Since this option could be implemented after using a more lax registration system and multiple emails can be the same maybe add an option to Clean Up duplication by merging the accounts or allow them to use multiple identities and after they log in with the same email account instead of username you can choose which identity you want to use as a user.

However that may be more complex however it should clear up any problems with duplicate emails in the email field by either merging the two so if they have posts that are in a forum they will still get credit for them however one account gets disabled and the other they get to use.

An issue I see is how does the system know if the user already has an account? If facebook or google+ has hte same email it should link that FB user or Google+ or LiveID to a previously created account for best results and keeping duplicate users from forming.
