very odd - one last thing, can you please check under admin->site settings , advanced settings and confirm that the user profile page is set to activity feed (I think it can also be set to "user profile" if the site is an upgrade) - this is the value read back and used to determine if profile pages should load or redirect i.e. the userid value is read and if it is the same as the current user then the various pages such as messages/notifications/edit profile will load, otherwise they will redirect to the page changing the userid to the current user (obviously the first page loads for all users as it has code to display the users profile details based on their security settings)

Just checked, I"m set to 'User Profile' - so don't' think that is the issue.

We're set to UserProfile too (don't seem to have ActivityFeed listed).  

Prior to one of the upgrades I used to have a page called 'My User Account'  that displayed the user's profile but following an upgrade, this page wouldn't show the profile as it said that it wasn't the designated user profile page, so I then made it the user profile page in the admin settings and all appeared well.
