I have been successfully playing around the app_offline.htm page to disable the website. I was wondering if it was possible to use this file to lock out all registered users but still have the capability for an admin to log in to the site and perform maintenance work (i.e. upload files, change modules, etc.)?

no, it shuts down asp.net altogether. You can set autoupgrade to false in the web.config if you want to control when an upgrade happens, but since we introduced the requirement to log in as a host before an upgrade that setting is now (IMHO) pretty pointless.

Thanks. Do you know of any way to shut the site down to all users but also have a way for a host/admin to log in and make changes to the content of the site? I would just prefer if no users were logged in while content changes were being made, file uploads and deletes in particular.

Hi Fred, I have never used it but DNN Hero Magazine reviewed a module called Maintenance Mode by DNN+ that does just that www.dnnhero.com/Videos/tabid/59/EntryId/326/How-to-put-up-a-maintenance-message-on-your-DotNetNuke-site-Video-306.aspx There might be other similar modules.

If you have access to IIS you can restrict all IP address other than yours.
