Here are two more instances of this problem. I have just had this happen to a second DNN install. My first issue was reported in this other thread: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/F... No one has ventured a comment on that first issue and it is still unresolved. Here are clues, but no solutions. I hope someone else can put it together to offer a solution.

Both of my problem DNN installs are on DNN 5.6.2. And I can confirm that at least the second instance was started when I installed a new extension and then went to the Host>Extensions and marked it as a premium module and moved it to the unassigned listbox for the chosen portal. After update was clicked and the screen refreshed, the modules dropdown box in the control panel was empty. All modules are missing.

As I stated in my first thread and in the entry above, each can be restored one-at-a-time in the Host>Extensions page. But they are susceptible to be lost again without notice making the long effort fruitless. Does anyone have any explanation or fix to restore all the modules to the modules list?

I've just upgraded from 5.5.1 to 5.6.3 and am very much regretting it as usual.

I had a large number of modules carefully assigned differently across my many portals. DNN 5.6.3 has decided to wipe this all out.

The trigger appears to be when a module is assigned or unassigned to the portals, exactly as described in this thread.

I've just now spent 2 hours attempting to restore my configuration, but after getting about 1/3 of the way through, it all turned to garbage again.

The DesktopModulePermission table is what gets wiped out.

What to do?

Regards
Rob
