Make sure you have completed both connection strings in the web.config.  There are two connection string settings, the second is used to backward compatability with older modules.

I'm getting the Red exclamation point and An error has occured. Error: xxxx on all the modules.

<connectionStrings>
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2005 Express
    <add
      name="SiteSqlServer"
      connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;"
      providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" /> -->

    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005 -->
    <add
      name="SiteSqlServer"
      connectionString="Server=my_server\my_server_sql_instance;Database=DNN;uid=********;pwd=********;"
      providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

  </connectionStrings>
  <appSettings>
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2005 Express - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules   -->
    <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;"/>
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005 - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules
    <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=(local);Database=DotNetNuke;uid=;pwd=;"/>
    -->

Are we talking both of the connection strings in the  <connectionStrings>? Or one in each  </connectionStrings>
and <appSettings>?

I have SQL 2000 so it makes sense to me to change the string in both sections of the web.config. I suppose I'll see after changing both sections. I am commenting out the SQL Express areas and un-commenting the SQL 2000. Nope Nothing To Install AT This Time error. Now I did it! Comment out the <appSetting> and leave the single string in <connectionSeting> and DNN all gone "Nothing To Install AT This Time error".  OK how do I get back to where I was?
