What is the scope of EditorOverride.css?  Isn't it portal or DNN wide?

This is not a skinning question.  The skin is done...  no problem.  This is an editing question...  How to make the editor use the same cascade of css files that the page it is editing uses.  No one has answered that seemingly obvious need.

The scope of editoroverride.css is system wide, this css file is only used to make the editor itself work by overriding a few dnn defaults. This is the same than with the provider that is shipped with DNN.  What you are after is special css file that you can specifiy in the configuration of each portal. There is a property "CSSFile" that will load the specified css file from the current skin's path. Typically you will only want a few styles to be available in the editor editing area, that is why I suggest to use a special css file, e.g. editor.css.

Thank you very much for the DMX integration.  It works great except for synch folders.
Is there an official place on the web to request the addition of synch folders to the DMX tool for RAD Editor?

I am running the editor in a sync folder environment with no issues. Can you please provide more details on what isn't working? And, please add your issue here:

Thank you Philipp for your responses.

I understand that editor.css can provide the contextual styling for a portal now.  I am actually after a special css file that I can specify in the configuration of each *page* not simply each portal.  In fact, I would rather not have to specify page.css...  I would rather have the editor mirror the skinning feature that cascades style sheets locally for each page.

Perhaps you are not familiar with the DNN skinning architecture?  One file, editor.css, in the skin path does not emulate the architecture of a DNN skin where each page in the portal can use a different template within the skin.

Here's an example of a DNN skin folder with three templates:

skin.ascx
skin.css
home.ascx
home.css
detail.ascx
detail.css

The first one is the default.  The second one is called home and applies home.css after skin.css has been applied.  The third one is detail and applies detail.css after skin.css.

Trying to write the ascx so that all tags are unique between skin.ascx and home.ascx defeats the purpose of cascading skin.css and home.css.  The only way to furnish all tags in editor.css is to make them unique throughout the templates.

I know the other editor providers do not provide a reasonable solution to skinning templates.  You have been the only one to respond with developer knowledge of your editor provider.  My belief is that if you approach this additional requested feature to support the DNN skinning architecture then you may solve a huge problem for the DNN community:  there is no WYSIWYG editor for DNN.  All our customers want to be able to edit their content as it looks on every page without having to pay us to do it.

Guy

As you can have editor configurations per page you can of course specify special css files for each of these configurations. They just have to be in the skin's directory. I would think though that although you can have multiple skins in one skin folder the editors css file will typically stay the same as it will mostly use font / paragraph styles, but there might be use cases where you are right, of course.
