I have a portal that I just upgraded to DNN 5.2.2. In it was a pre-existing Event module instance that I also upgraded to Events 5.0.3.

The existing Events module had a list of categories defined for it.

I've gone and added a new Event module instance to the same portal, and noticed that it seemed to get the categories that were already in the first module. Thinking that these lists are supposed to be independent, I deleted the categories, but then discovered that the categories were also deleted from the first module too - as if they're pointing to a single portal-wide list.

I was hoping that category lists for Event was on a per-module basis and that they could be populated independently - but this doesn't seem to be the case!

What's the expected/supported behavior? I'm suspicious that maybe this is a bug as a consequence of my upgrade.

Thanks,
Bob

Hi Bob,

The current implementation of categories is that they are portal wide. There has been some desire for them to be done per module, but that currently isn't the case.

Cheers
Roger
