I've added a change to support this, which also highlights more problems with Outlook 2003 - http://dnnevents.codeplex.com/WorkIte...

It may be we will need to drop support for Outlook 2003, since it does not seem to be able to accurately read .ics files according to the spec of RFC2445.

Cheers
Roger

Hi Roger,

If it helps you track down the problem: I have only just upgraded to DNN 5.2.2 from 4.5.5 and exporting to Outlook 2003 was working in DNN 4.5.5

The DotNetNuke.Modules.Events version was 4.0.1.0 when I was running 4.5.5. It is now Events 5.0.3 under DNN 5.2.2

Thanks,
Angus.

One of the changes we made was to change from vCal to iCal (.vcs to .ics). iCal has greater functionality, including recurring event support, so I'm trying to get this going properly.

The point that I didn't make here, and meant to, was that the change to .ics from .vcs happened after 4.0.1. I think the first full release that included this was 5.0.1.

I'm still encountering the error when I try to export an event to Outlook 2003.  Here's a copy of my Outlook error:

This error can appear if you have attempted to save a recurring Lunar appointment in iCalendar format.

To avoid this error, set the appointment option to Gregorian instead of Lunar.

And this is the exported ical file that downloads:
