Hi.

How can I do when a product is sold out show the message sold out, instead hide the buttons and show the price?

Thanks in advance, João Rosa

Hi João,

Two settings from the Store Admin module are used to control the behavior when a product is out of stock.

The setting 'On Out of Stock' control the display of the [STOCKQUANTITY] token, depending on the selected value:

  1. Quantity in stock: Always display the quantity available even if the stock is negative.
  2. Product Unavailable: Show the message 'Product Unavailable' if the stock quantity is lower than 1.
  3. Restocking in progress: Show the message 'Restocking in progress' if the stock quantity is lower than 1.

Remember than all strings from the Store module can be changed or adapted using the standard DNN Language Editor! You could replace the message 'Product Unavailable' by 'Sold Out' if you want, it's just a string.

The setting 'Product's Behavior' control the display of the tokens: [ADDTOCART], [ADDTOCARTIMG], [PURCHASE], [PURCHASEIMG] and [ADDQUANTITY], depending on the selected value:

  1. Accept order if a product is out of stock: Select this value if you allow your visitors to order a product even if the stock quantity is lower than 1.
  2. Hide quatity, links and buttons: Select this value if you want to show the product but DO NOT allow to order it.
  3. Hide product: Select this value to simply hide the product.

The combination of these two settings should cover all possible use cases.

Gilles

We (team members) are Humans offering their knowledge, their work and their spare time FOR FREE to benefit the community. It would be so particularly appreciated that your messages begin with "Hello" and end with "Thank you" or any other form of politeness. Ask yourself what your reaction would be, if you were approached by me (a total stranger) on the street to ask you something without saying "Hello" nor "Thank you"? After several years of services dedicated to the community, I begin to be tired to read requests without any form of politeness.

Hello Gilles, First i would like to thank u for all the lovely work u spent on this module and supporting it. i really enjoy using this module. I was testing with product out of stock situations and i managed to buy more units of a certain product than what was in stock. Say i had 2 apples in stock and i paid for 8. the StockQuantity in the DB was updated to -6. this might be useful in other cases but in my case i need to able to sell all the units that are left but not to go under stock. is there any built-in option to do this? Thank you, Yotam.
