I've installed 5.1.4, and want to get started writing a custom membership provider.

But I cant do anytihng until I can get my base install of 5.1.4 working the way that 4.5 does.

I need the login link to work, and not return a 404. What is the difference between 4 and 5 that is causing that not to work?

If I use the ?ctl=login I can enter my uname and pwd, but I get redirected to another 404.

If I login as Admin, nothing works.

If I login as Host, the Host functions work but the Admin functions dont.

I know I'm not providing much detail here, but i dont have alot to go on. Things in 4.5 work really well, but not in 5.x

I fi8gure I'm missing something, and would really appreciate it if someone could help me get over the hu8mp.

David, I believe you're running into an issue where DNN has changed the SECURE flag on some of your pages, I don't know why this occurs, but I've seen it in the past.

If you can access your SQL database check out the tabs table

 

select * from tabs

If there are pages flagged secure in there try changing them to not be secure, you might then need to modify your web.config to restart the application.
