I encountered exactly the same thing and fixed it with the same workaround as I didn't want to get into changing the code. Have you been able to determine the cause (and a more stable workaround)?

I don't use table prefixes so my stored procedures have exactly those names and it still won't do the geocoding. I am about to start modifying the source to add more error trapping and reporting, so maybe I can get to the bottom of this. Could it be an issue with the geocoding API key. How sensitive to domain name is it?

what are you guys trying to geocode? If it is simply user profiles then try the fatgeorge GeoCoder. more info at http://www.fatgeorge.co.uk/Products/GeoCoder.aspx
