hi.. i have a container with fixed width.. but it acts different in IE and firefox.

in IE it adjusts(expands horizontally) according to text in it... and in firefix the flows out ...

could you please help me how to set fixed width for container so that it doesnt act different in both the browzers.

i dont want the contaier to expand accoring to the text in it...

and at the same time it shouldnt flow out.

it should be only adjust inside.

please help me.

I had similar issue, i just used a hack to solve it. Gave it a right padding of 5 and it didn't flow out anymore, but there could be better solution out there.

I think if you use float:left/right it should work. I had the similar problem, and I remember it vaguely now. I think I used position relative or absolute and I had the same problem. then I changed the way it should display using float and it worked fine both in IE and FF.

If that doesnt work, use a seperate style sheet for IE.

Something like this and style it seperately for IE:

<!--[if lt IE 7]>
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="css/ie.css" />
<![endif]-->

Hope this helps.
