I have a client with four distinct classes of employees.  We're building them a site where we want to show our product offerings based on the class of employee.  My goal is to have a simple landing page where the end-user self selects their classification.  They would then be taken to a homepage that lists the products available to them.  In addition, some pages would be hidden based on the fact that that particular product is not available to them.

I'd like to create 4 unique roles and a single user would be attached to each role.  When the end-user clicks on the landing page link they would "automatically" be authenticated and logged in as the default user for their particular role.  Is this possible?  My client understands that a user could theoretically choose the incorrect classification and view products not available to them.  They are fine with this.  There is no personal information in the site.  We are using DNN v5.1.1.

Any thoughts on the above?

I wouldn't abuse roles for this purpose, because it would take away the option to use roles in the future, if needed. I suggest to use a landing page with four links, each linking to a dedicated subtree, which is subsequently shown in menu only. Commonly used content may be added by selecting "add content from page" option and referencing module content. We implemented sth like this for www.personalpool.org
