What controls the User Agents displayed in Admin | Site Log | User Agents?

How can I configure the report so that I see IE7, IE8 and Googlebot entries broken out?

I know I get visits from (for example IE8) yet a request from an IE8 user increments the count for 'Internet Explorer'.  A request from an IE7 user increments the same count.  This means I cannot distinguish the traffic.

If I look in the SteLog table in the database the User agent strings for all versions of Internet Explorer look to follow a pattern, but that pattern is not recognized in the report.

The same is true for GoogleBot. In the table I can see visits from "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)" but I don't know if/how they show up in the report.

AFAIK you need to update the browser caps in /app_browsers file.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I have three files in that folder.  I tried a little carefully structured fiddling in there and I was not able to affect the report at all.

I tried changing a few of the settings in the files in the hope that I could exclude some of the existing agents.  It did not work.  The number of settings in there did not seem obviously related to the values in my report.  There are User Agents in the report that do not look as though they come from data in those files.

Can anyone offer more advice?

I assume, any other analysis is done by IIS, cause I am not aware of any appropriate code in DNN source.
