It would be nice in the Events List Settings had the option to Display the Fields Vertically.   This would comes in handy adding a list to a narrow column as part of the page design.

Instead of generating <tr><td>(field1)</td><td>(field2)</td><td>(field3)</td></tr>

for a vertical layout there would only need to be a row break inserted of </tr><tr> between each field

<tr><td>(field1)</td></tr><tr><td>(field2)</td></tr><tr><td>(field3)</td></tr>

For example the following Begin Date Time, Event Name, Description displayed as followed in a 300 pixel wide column

I believe that user-customizable templates are being worked on for future versions of Events.

PS.  If you don't need other display options or functionality of the Events module, you could use a User-Defined Table (forms and Lists) to get the output you want.
