Using dnn 4.9, blog 3.5, latest version of Windows Live Writer.

Was able to set up WLW to post, but chil blogs are not getting pulled in as categories.  That is, while creating a post in WLW, I am unable to set categories.

Ideas?

Good question... hadn't thought of it like that... but I think I did it in the correct order.

Here's what happened:  I created the web site and blog first, including all child blogs.  So, I had (have) 1 parent blog, and 4 child blogs for categories.

When I setup the account in WLW, the program actually notifies me, "There are 5 blogs here, please select the one you want."  In this window, the parent blog, and all child blogs, are listed.  I thought, "Hmmm, okay, I'll just choose the parent blog and see what happens."  Previously, when I used to use metapost in conjunction with previous blog module versions, I always had categories available, and it never asked me which blog I wanted to publish to.

Even though I did things in the right order the first time, I followed your advice, same result in the end, no categories in WLW.

The module is working as designed.  Each child blog comes in as a top-level blog and you can post to each one by setting each one up as its own account.

Using child blogs as categories is a common workaround but since we will be moving away from that structure in the next version, we did not want to wire up the metaweblog interface to see child blogs in this manner.  In the next version, you will define categories differently, and WLW will see them as such.
