I am trying to install SQL Server 2008 express. During the install process I get the above mentioned message. ok...fine, Even though I see the framework install active. I reinstall it, just to make sure. Well, I still get the same message! Can someone please tell me what I'm missing?

AFAIK SQL Server 2008 requires .Net framework 3.5 SP1 and PowerShell installed. Maybe you should try the Web Plattform installer, available at www.microsoft.com/web

Thanks for the information. I used the weblink and I was able to download the beta. But, when I attempted to install it I received a message that stated it was only for windows vista. Since my hosted server is windows 2003 server. I looked for another download, but I could not find anything that mentioned SQL server 2008 express in it's package. What should I look for?

Thanks

http://www.microsoft.com/express/sql/download/

  1. Download and run the SQL Server Express Install Wizard

This will install all prerequisites for SQL Express 2008.

Thanks for the link. I attempted to install the SQL Express wizard and received an error stating that it could not install the components. This server is a freshly re-imaged server from the hosting company. This is getting frustrating. I'm going to give SQL server 2005 a shot.
