Hello,

I wish to embed a Youtube video. Youtube provides a link with the embeding coding right in it, however I do believe I am putting it in the wrong spot. The Youtube embeded link code is as follow:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/MpQY1VHCz7s&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/MpQY1VHCz7s&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

When I open the Edit IFrame, I have put this link under the "location" field. An error of unable to load page comes up where I wish the video to play. When I remove the embeded code and just put in the url, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpQY1VHCz7s, the video does play, however it brings up the whole page, while I would like to play only the video, not all of the surrounding page contents.

I have searched the forums for some potential ansers and have found under "Embedding a web page? ", to "DNN comes with the IFRAME module.  You will have to "Install additional modules" if you have not done so already.  Drop that module in, and point it to the desired page." Perhaps this is the answer, but I am unfamiliar with how to install additional modules.

I have also found under "Embedded Video In Forum " to "You need to simplify the link from say YouTube.com ect. the links are complex and need to be more simple. Remove all the information except the link itself. The only part of the link need is the part inside "blabla"  Example= " KttP://eee.blabla.wow_jfdhendjdh1" like in youtube.com and other web site. Oh and make sure you use the proper application within as well Flash for Flash and the other pic app for other video's ." Perhaps I am not using the proper application, flash for flash, and once again I am unfamiliar with how to do this.

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated,

Eric

I do it on my websites in a Text/HTML module.  Just edit the module, hit the "Source" button, and paste the embed code from YouTube.

IFrame, from what I understand is more to frame in an actual full web page/HTML doccument.  For instance, say your customer has a vendor, who has set up thier own propriatary cart to be used.  A hack would be to Iframe the cart for the vendor into your page sicne you can't really edit the site, or the vendor won't allow you to run your own.

I created a quick sample of a HTML module with the youtube <object> embeded, and a second module on the page with one of my websites "iframed".

Jgurley and Josh,

Thank you both for your responses.

Using the text/html module and then using source did the trick. I do have one more question though, perhaps it is based on what video you have selected, but do you know how to make the video autorun? Is there a code by chance you could include that would do this?

Thank you,

Eric
