Hi,

I am new to DNN and we are  considering DNN as our CMS system. I had a question that I did not see answered anywhere. We will be writing some custom code in DNN. Now how does one propagate the code changes that are made in development environment to the production environment. What it means is how does one deploy custom code changes to QA or production environment? Will be a manual process through the DNN administration portal? Can this process be automated, just like asp.net xcopy deploy?

Appreciate your answers.

Thanks,

NetBunny

Your "code changes" will be implemented as custom modules, skin objects or providers (don't touch the core framwork code!), which need to be installed on the production machine. Modules and skin objects get packaged as module package, DNN 5 will introduce the same option for providers, i.e. you develop those extensions locally, package it anda superuser installs it on the production machine.
