I've seen several threads concerning this but none with any answers.  It seems like once a skin has been referenced, that dnn goes into a "This set of skins cannot be deleted because it is being used" lockdown mode even if you know for a fact that it's not.  I have a problematic skin that I'd like removed and I have total control of the web server and the database server.  I know I can go in and delete the Skin folder but that leaves a bunch of database records that don't get cleaned up.  I really would like to do a clean uninstall.

Can anyone help?  I have two portals running on a single instance: 1) live portal 2) testing portal and neither of them are referencing the problematic skin.

Thanks for your consideration.

Darin

Did you query the database to verify there are no pages utilizing the skin?

No Sir,

I don't have any idea on what that query might look like...I don't have any kind of table definition information.  You did peek my curiosity though and I found a Skins table.  I thought this would give me a list of installed skins and some sort of RecordId that I could use to do further queries.  However this table isn't what it appears to be so I threw in the towel.

Dang I hate the taste of crow but I don't want to waste anyone's time.

I came across one page that was still using the skin, changed it to default grey and then deleted the problematic skin.

Sorry to bother you.

Sounds good. I figured there had to be a page out there somewhere using the skin.
