Just upgraded the links module to version 4.0.0 and I was hoping someone out there might be able to help me solve this formating problem I get in IE 7 and FF3. Its only since upgrading the links module.

In IE 7 all the text links seem to be cut in two while Firefox seems to space the links out with more space given to the links at the bottom of the module then the top

My module settings

  • Control Type: list
  • List Display format: vertical
  • Display info link: No
  • Wrap link: No (but also tried Yes to see if that made a difference)
  • Display Icon: None Specified

Update: Enabled whitespace filtering on the host but it had no effect so disabled it again.

I'm not a full time programmer so can't delve into the links source code with any degree of confidence but is there some mark-up code I could modify to solve this

Update 2: Decided to restore from backups and re-upgrade to DNN 4.8.4. Didn't encounter the problem so it just be limited to the upgrade of the links module

Links 4.0.0 fixes a couple of spacing issues, so i am surprised to hear you had issues after an upgrade. Might have been a caching issue of some sort

Hi Eric,
Sorry for not replying sooner. I don't seen to get notifications of updates to my posting probably need to add the DNN emails to the spam allow list. Anyway back to the matter at hand. I had thought it was down to a caching issue but I left the website run for a number of days with the problem version of the links module running.

Because the problem was different in FF andIE I think it would rule out a cache issue but others would know more about caching then me. I can't swear but I'm nearly sure I had to restart the server too before I decided to roll back to the previous version of the links module  I have a pdf showing the different problems I got but don't have permission to upload attachments here but have a beta site www.beta.cdi.ul.ie showing the problem and the main site www.cdi.ul.ie for the before picture. The links module is used on the left hand side.

Can you have a look and maybe we can come up with a fix before 4.9.0 is released with the latest links module included?

I will try to have a look next week. Mind you, I spent a few hours together with Timo to solve spacing issues in the links module prior to the release of 04.00.00. There "should" be none left.

Anyhow, there is no way any new issues can be solved prior to DNN 4.9.0 being released. You should know that the release process of a single module takes a couple of weeks.

Also: the next major release of the module will include a templating system, so that will make this issue non existent
