I have a simple DNN site created on a GoDaddy.com domain.  I would like to know how to remove the /dotnetnuke/ from my home page's URL.   My site is already created.

Ideally, it would be http://www.mysitename.org/home/tabid/36.default.aspx

Currently, it's http://www.mysitename.org/dotnetnuke/Home/tabid/36/Default.aspx

I'm about to attempt to edit my "Site Map URL".  Am I close or am I about to destroy my site?

Any advice would be appreciated.  Thank you.

You're not the first person to want to do that. I did a quick google on GoDaddy and DotNetNuke and found these to links that I think will help you out.

I am trying to solve the same problem.  I do not want to try and reinstall DNN onto the root.  I am looking for a simple redirect or something to fix the URL?  Currently I have this for a redirect

<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="1;url=http://mysite.com/dotnetnuke">

But there has to be a way go to www.mysite.com without it showing up as www.mysite.com/dotnetnuke?  I am wondering about masking, but I read on here that masking causes a problem that pevents users from logging into your website?  I have spent a week reading through these forums trying to find the answer, and have only found this question asked many times with no simple answer.  Does anyone have a simple way to fix this problem?

You can try setting the "hostheader" value inside your web.config.  Under the AppSettings section.

However, if DNN is the only site there, the most appropriate solution is to have it installed at the root.

Mitch,

I appreciate you trying to help!  Can you be more detailed in explaining how to do what you are talking about?

Will this really resolve the isue of getting dotnetnuke out of the url?

Or am I just better off switching hosting to PowerDNN?  If I switch to PowerDNN I won't have this issue anymore, correct?
