Guru's,

I need some serious help on fixing a issue and a little enchancement.

a) We have two images for each of our products (a) Small (used for thumbnails) and (b) Full blown detail image. What we want to do is that under the "Product List" which appears as soon as we hit "Category" we want to show the "Small" image (thumbnail size image) of our product and once the user hits "more info" or clicks on the "image" and he is drawn to the "Product detail" page we want to show the full blown image. We understand that currently this is not readily available in Store module, however we need your guidance on how can we achieve this, in a non complicated and upgradable manner. We really need this. Please assist, your precious guidance is very much appreciated.

b) This is not an enhancement but a problem that we have noticed in store module. In event when we realized that above (a) is not readily available we tried to use the full blown product image in the "Product List" page however, the problem we are facing is that although we set the image border to 1 it still does not show up in the product list page that appears as soon as you hit the category link - THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT WITHTOUT THE IMAGE BORDER OUR SITE IS LOOSING ITS CHARM. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP  IN ACHIEVING THIS SIMPLE THING - PLEASE?? WE SO APPREICATE YOUR HELP ON THIS ONE.

c) How can we have various "Product Detail" image sizes for various products or based on categories? our products range from flowers to piano and obviously not all have the same size for detail view and hence we need to be able to change the size based on category or product - any thing will work.

All above are equially important and required, however in event of too much complication (c) and (b) take the precedence.

ANY AND EVERY SINGLE HELP IS VERY HIGHLY APPRECIATED. please guide.

Thanks much and I await your precious help.

a)
use only the full blown image.
In CATEGORY->SETTINGS you can give the size of the thumbnail.

b)
You must make a border with photoshop or another program as the "properties of the picture itself.
then everey time the border is present

c)
Save the original picture in the size you want to let appear in the product details.
This way you can have several sizes of pictures

Hi Siddharth,

a) If both images are different (in content), it's imposible because you can attach only one image to a product. If it's the same image but using different size, you are wrong! You can control the size of the thumbnail inside the Settings menu of the Store Catalog module. Expand Catalog Settings, then in the sections New Product Settings, Featured Product Settings, Popular Product Settings and Category Product Settings you will find a setting "Thumbnail Width" with 90(px) by default. This one control the "small" size of the image when products are displayed in list. In the section Product Details Settings the same setting define the "large" size (default 300 px) of the image when a user click on "More Info". All images are resized (according the Thumbnail Width setting) "on the fly". For a better display quality always use images with a minimum size of the larger thumbnail size used.

b) For add a border when products are displayed in list, open the file ...\DesktopModules\Store\Templates\StyleSheet\StoreFront.css and replace the line:

.NewProduct-Image IMG { border:0; }

by

.NewProduct-Image IMG { border-width: 1px;}

c) You can't have various sizes, because as explained the thumbnail size is defined by "type" of list (featured, popular, categories, ...) not by category nor product.

It would be so particularly appreciated that your messages begin with "Hello" and end with "Thank you" or any other form of politeness. Ask yourself what your reaction would be, if you were approached by me (a total stranger) on the street to ask you something without saying "Hello" nor "Thank you"? After several years of services dedicated to the community, I begin to be tired to read requests without any form of politeness.

Gilles, thanks for your detailed reply.

Apologies for late reply, I was out on vacation since I was working through christmas and new year.

Okay so based on our situation, the most important  is (b) and I tried what you have suggested but it still does not show the border. Any idea why and how to get the border? I mean I changed the line u outlined to 10px but still nothing? :( :((

All that I want to do is when I hit category, then in catalog whatever product images are displayed should have a border. What stylesheet is used ? if we can get that and set it's img border, may be it will work? or is it a bug as I already reported?

Appreciate ur kind help and quick info.

Awaiting Reply,

Sincerely,

Sid.

Gilles,

Thanks for your suggestion. It worked. It was my typo; I forgot to add the key word "width"; after I did it correctly it worked.

THANKS SO MUCH!

Sincerely,

Sid.
