I've set up several DNN sites at JodoHost and the SMTP settings have always been mail.domainname.com - until now!

I've done this with various versions of DNN 3.x and DNN 4.x up to DNN 4.4.1 and they all work fine. This time I installed DNN 4.6.2 and even though the configuration test works, Newsletters and notices for role changes, etc would not. I saw in one of the other notes that localhost worked. I tried it and it did for me too.

So I thing a gremlin was working inside the Mailer for versions 4.5.x to 4.6.2 to improperly connect to the mail host. In these cases using 'localhost' without quotes for the SMTP Server inside Host SMTP Settings may work for you. It seems that DNN 4.7.0 has resolved the situation and you can go back to normal naming of the SMTP Server.

Brian
