1) Can you signify that a product does not have a set prices and the user can enter the price (For example: Donations).  I work with a lot of  non-profit groups and it would be nice to be able to order items and make donation with one payment.

2)  Can you put a 0 price for a product so that it can be downloaded for free.  This could be used for stores that provide item for sale and free items (module developer, skin developer, etc).  This would allow the site admin to track who is using free items and whether they turn into sales later on.

We are planning on supporting virtual products (downloads) in the near future. I'm thinking donations could also be handled the same as downloadable products. You could set up donation products in fixed amounts, i.e. $1, $5, $10, $25, etc. - similar to gift certificates.

As far as free items go, you should be able to set an items price to zero.

I really think that supporting donations, with the user being able to enter the amount would be a good feature.  Most of the non-profit sites I work on have small stores and also take donations and it would be nice if they could pay both.  They also do not want to set specific prices as you suggested, because there is the perception that they could lose donations by only allowing certian amounts.

Well, I imagine somebody could create a payment provider that allowed the user to enter a donation amount in addition to paying for the items they purchased.
