Hello - thanks for any help you can give.  here are the steps I took to try to install to a remote website  (using the source.zip package)

0.  rename the release.config to web.config

1. created a SQL database and copied the connection string info from the hosting site into the web.config file

2.  made other changes to web.config as noted in documentation

3.  loaded dotnetnuke into VS2005 and completed a build

4.  ftp---> all the files (i.e. the bin folder, all other folders and all the files ) to the website

5.. I then inserted url into browser address window

I thought at this point that the INSTALL would take place automatically.  Excuse me if this is all painfully boneheaded - I'm just starting out with all this..... THANKS!!

was the web site correctly set up in IIS on the web server? Make sure, ASP.Net 2.0 is enabled and default.aspx is default document.
