00:00:09.375 -   Error: Request for the permission of type 'System.Security.Permissions.FileIOPermission, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.

This error is being caused because the virtual folder permissions in the Go Daddy Control Panel (Directory Management) are not being translated to the actual folder.  This prevents the installer from copying the files into the directory which causes the portal install to fail.

If you are experiencing this problem you may want to contact Go Daddy Support and inform them.

I am working on a solution however it is going to take some work before it is complete.

Hi, when installing my portal I am also getting this error..

I would like to compare my files with yours if it is possible..

Your article on your website hasn't been updated in a while, and i'd really appreciate if I could have a copy of all ur files or at least ur web.config file (without any sensitive data ofcourse) thank you

Hi Michael,

I believe the FileIOPermission error when upgrading the DNN installation has more to do with the fact that the trust level of the application is not set high enough for what DNN is trying to do.

I looked within the source code of DNN, and it seems to crash right at the point when it is creating the specific portal folder and associated information.

I do know my virtual folder permissions are taking effect though, as I have changed them to see them take effect on my domain (for example, browsing a directory).

I see that some people are still getting this downloaded on their domain (I see some manual installs of 4.0.2 and 4.0.3 out there), I just wonder why others are having no luck (such as me).

Ok, try installing DotNetNuke on your computer.. and then take the web.config file and re-edit it so the connection strings match your hosting server and replace it with the other web.config u had at the start on ur hosting server.
That fixed it for me.. but got into another error which i am still trying to figure out..
I am about to change hosts.. i think it really is impossible to install it on the root in GoDaddy..still havent had any feedback from MichaelWinter for a few days now..
