Hi Gilles,

I think my basic needs are:

1. Every registered member can apply for a sub-store and the sub-store's infomation such as store name, discription or anything else can be saved.

2. Each member can manage his own sub-store, such as ADD/EDIT/DEL products and series.

3. Visitors can leave message which related with specific product to the sub-store owner and the owner can reply.

4. Every member can put out messages about offering or finding some specific product.

I noticed that a new version is being testing now and will be released soon, do you know whether this version include any of these features?

Daniel

Hi David,

By “Unit cost”, do you think to the price paid by the merchant to the supplier? Concerning your example, of course two emails will be sent, one by supplier. But you do not ask to my question. Is it better to sent an email to the supplier for each order, or waiting for an action by the administrator like a button "Sent Order" for each supplier?

For your specific problem, I have already explain that's a lot of work.  Even if I retain the idea that it is necessary to be able to define several prices (by color, size, etc), I continue to think that one needs a simple system and more generic.

Gilles

Hi Gilles, sorry for not replying sooner.

"Unit Cost" would be the cost agreed with the supplier, just an option to stop any mistakes, when the Invoice comes in, the email could be automatic or manual, based on the supplier or product.

I am agreeing with you now, Price Group and Price Group Lines, is all that are required, with an integer as a sort order on the lines, that would help to sub group the Price Lines.

Inital development to allow a product to have all the prices in one price group, later development to be able to select lines from a price group for a specific Product and overwrite the prices, for any product, but still have to group lines.

I have purchased the Module Builder from www.Socani.org, this is giving me a good idea of how DNN works, there is such a lot to learn!

David

Hi Daniel,

No, the new version do not have any of this features! BUT!

Previously, one could place a Store module by portal. But all the modules shared the same templates. This is why I have added the possibility of moving templates in the portal folder. Given that DotNetNuke makes it possible to have as many portals as you want it on only one instance, you could create a portal by member. Thus each one could manage its own space as it want it.

It would be so particularly appreciated that your messages begin with "Hello" and end with "Thank you" or any other form of politeness. Ask yourself what your reaction would be, if you were approached by me (a total stranger) on the street to ask you something without saying "Hello" nor "Thank you"? After several years of services dedicated to the community, I begin to be tired to read requests without any form of politeness.

Hi David,

You are right, it is preferable to indicate the unit cost to avoid complaints. I start to have a rather precise idea of what could be this extension B2B. However, what astonishes to me is that only two members are interested (you and Daniel)!

I did not know the SoCanI module. I would like to have your opinion on this one. It seems very interesting.

Hi Gilles

The SoCanI module looks ok, the level of support is great, I can create the modules I want, but still have to learn how to merge them with the standard modules, this will take some time.

I have changed my thinking a bit on the "Price Group", and have moved more to a "Product Variant" system, this would facilitate a more generic module, for the Store, the outline scope is a bit like this.

Setup the products as standard in the store module, then an optional "Product Variant" child table could be populated, you create the variant, add a description, you can optionally specify a Unit of Measure, Location, Stock Quantity, Unit Cost and Selling Price for this Variant.

This is the area I cannot do yet, on the Buy Now, a pop up window where you can select the variant to "Add to Cart", with the description and price going to the cart.

The  usage is many, and can be used for Different Size, Color, Styles for clothing and shoes, Units of Measures for single and multiple packs, like Each, Pack of 10, Case of 100, Pallet of 1000, each has a stock quantity and price.

I wonder how this is done now, do you have to setup the same item for each combination, or is the Store Module not really seen as a serious solution?

I think the store module could be moved to a new level with a few small changes, Units of Measure, Variants, Pricing by Unit of Measure and Variant, Product Promotions, and available stock quantity by Location, these I think would be the minimum standard in any non web store front system.

The hardest one here would be the price promotion, this would need to be another module, the rest could be done quite quickly with the variant system, this could easy be expanded and used as a Stock Keeping  module, offering, Min and Max Stock Quantity, Re-Order Quantities etc:

If you take clothing and shoes, a range in sizes, you need to know which sizes you have, which sizes to reorder, most popular sizes would require a larger Minimum Stock and Re-Order Quantity, you also need to be aware of the turnaround time for re-stocking.

How much would this add to the useage / standing of the Store Module?

David
