Hi Guys,

I am new in DotNetNuke and was trying to install (set up) a sample Store module to evaluate it if I can use it in my real online store.

I have no idea how to Install (setup) the Store module and could not find any instructions on how to do it. Can anyone give me a short idea what I should do when I have DotNetNuke 4.4.1 working..

Or if you give me some link to install instruction..

Do I have to just somehow add it as a module to the DotNetNuke?

I have been using Joomla in one of my sites and its as simple as just installing a new module through the Joomla admin panel.. is it the same here in DotNetNuke? I did not find such an option.. PLease help!

Thank you in advance...

Regards,
Stoyan

I'm actually working on some documentation for the store.  This should get you started.  I will have more tomorrow.

Getting Started with the DotNetNuke Store Module

Overview
The DotNetNuke Store Module is more than just one module.  The DotNetNuke consists of five individual modules all with specific tasks.  Each module is identified below:

Store Admin – Manages store settings, products and orders.
Store Catalog – Displays products and categories.
Store Menu – Displays a listing of categories within the store.
Store Mini Cart – Allows you to offer a smaller cart display that you may want on every page.
Store Account – Provides access to main shopping cart and account information

First Steps
You should consider the layout for your store before you start adding modules to pages.  Specifically, you will want pages for your Store Admin, Store Catalog and Store Account.

Step 1 – Create a page with admin only permissions to hold the Store Admin module.
Step 2 – Create a page for your Store Catalog.
Step 3 – Create a page for your Store Account.
Step 4 - You will now want to add the appropriate module to each page.

Store Admin Module
The Store Admin Module gives you access to manage all the various settings for your store.  You will also be able to manage Categories, Products, Customers and Reviews.  Follow the steps below to get started with your store:

Store Information

  1. Enter your store name, description, keywords, store email and select your shopping cart page (Store Account).
  2. Click “Update”
  3. Select your payment gateway provider from the select box.  Your options include Authorize.Net and PayPal.
  4. Enter the information necessary for your selected payment provider.
  5. Expand Shipping Administration and enter 0.00 or your appropriate shipping fee.
BUG: Do not click “update shipping fee”.
  6. Click “Update”

 Categories

  1. Click the Categories link.
  2. Click Add Category
  3. Enter a Category Name and any additional information.
  4. Click Update

Products

  1. Click the Products link.
  2. Select the appropriate Category
  3. Click Add Product
  4. Complete Product form details
NOTE: You must select an image for each product. If you don’t want to use an image then upload a transparent gif file to your root folder then select as the product image.
  5. Enter a description for your product.
  6. Click “Update”

Hi guys, I am new too.

My questions are :

How do I install the store modules in DNN 4.4.1 ?  In 4.4.1 I sign in as Host and under Module Definitions, the Store modules do not appear in the list of available modules.  It does have the option to add a new module by browsing for a file but where do I get the file for the DNN store modules ?

Also, is it possible to just implement product/category management without checkout, shipping etc ?

Thanks

Thank you for the instructions..

Sorry for the silly question but when I create all those pages with what should I link them? How do I create the admin page? I go into DotNetNuke admin section and add a new page. What I should link this page with?

I am really new to DotNetNuke and do not really know how to use it.... sorry for the question...

Happy Easter!

I followed exact instructions as descrbied by Will M, and could successfully install the module(s) at http://demo.dotnetnuke.com/indianguru/StoreCatalogue/tabid/427552/Default.aspx. I also added Two categories as well as Two Products to each of the Categories, and I can see them in the Admin Module, all ok.

However, inspite of my trying hard, none of the Products get displayed at the Catalog  I have also assigned the Image file to each of the product as well provide description/details too.

Please help
