Hi All.

I want to use the Blog module in its clearest form: a diary about my little son for my parents and parents in law as they live far away from us.

So for a couple of "special days" there is a blog entry with several pictures and some text.

What i want to see is following:

- no summary; ok, i can switch it off and write everything in the entry-box, but then....see next issue
- always show blog entries itself without clicking on "Read more" which should be hidden at all
(when switching off the summary only the Read More link is visible)

Why i want to use the blog instead of Text/HTML?
- blog has a nice archive function (the Calendar part)
- blog can be searched in itself
- it has a date-field
- because my idea, a diary, is a blog

So, please, how to configure it? Or is it just not possible?

When you see some blogs e.g. on eblogger.com, here it is possible.

Thanks in advance

Kai

Hi Kai,

I think the Blog module is what you need. In order to be up and running, do the following:

  1. Add an instance of the Blog module in the desired place, then create the Blog.
  2. Goto Module Options and set Limit Auto-Generated Entry Summary To 0, and make sure the Make Entry Summary Mandatory is unchecked.
  3. Start blogging.

Remember that the Summary field when adding a new entry has to be clear. To to this switch to Source View and delete any unwanted content.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa

Thanks so far Dario.

I still believe that the Blog is the right module but your hints still do not resolve the fact that instead of showing up with the blog-entry itself (including Text and Pics) the "Read More..." Link is shown.

I don't want to make a difference between the "abstract" and the whole content. I just want to show the content at once.

Any ideas?

Kai

Kai - I noticed a bug last night that may be causing your problem.

Please edit a post that shows "Read More...".  In the "Summary" section editor, click the "Source" button to show the HTML code.  Delete anything you find there.  Click 'Update" to save your post.

"Read More..." should no longer be displayed.

Did this work?

Oh my God.....my sons dairy is working as desired!!!

Thank you very much Rip.

Where the hell does the "enter-code" come? I definitely never ever entered anything here....

However, now i can bring almost 7 years into the blog to let my parents etc. see what was going on.

Kai
