My enviorement DNN 4.9 IIS 7 .net 2.0!!! SQL 2005 javascript error IE 7 and IE 8 Beta. Terrible load time in IE Firefox and Opera.

Module instaled at www.olsmar.com

Installed the module with no problems. Reinstalled once no different result.

Compared load times with old module estimate 10 times faster with old one.

Maybee its my enviorment but I doubt it.

If not date is fixed I will reinstall the old one and I think you should make a statement that this module is not tested enough to bee a quality upgrade of the old one.

Jan,

Thanks for the update on your config.  I wasn't implying that it is your environment, only that I haven't been able to reproduce the issue with my setup.  I couldn't make a statement about the module's being tested enough, as I'm not on the team, just a fellow dnn community member.  I do agree with the general feeling about the module though.

With the many posts describing issues, I would not use the new module in a production site setting.  There are issues being sorted out by Peter, and there are possible others yet undetected.  The localization of the date is not part of this 'fix' as I understand it, not good news for you and others that need localized date, but that's all I can say.

I'm still testing, and found that the caching is still having some trouble when more than 1 module is placed on a page.  I have 4 News modules on a page, and after 30 minutes, the default cache time, the first trip back only 1 of the modules refreshes and is displayed.  I still need to 'refresh (F5) in IE7 to see two more feeds, and finally, another refresh brings up the last module news.

More testing going on...

Peter

I have completed a reasonable amount of testing with some 30+ feeds from various sources.

The relaxing of the validation has resulted in all tested feeds being sucessful with NewsFeeds 4.00.01

I found one entry (as previoulsy reported) that returns a "PubDate" Issue, however the module continues to return other feed entries from the same feed sucessfully.

Multiple instances of NewFeeds module on a single page now get updated in a serial fashion without the need for multiple page refreshes.

In my opinion this module in its current design is doing what it is designed to do.

I would further support (as I know that you are currently reviewing) as design that does the feed cache refresh as a background task, this would certainly result isn a superior user experience.

Thanks Peter for your prompt attention to these reported issues. Great work.

Craig

Craig what parameter did you use to get Multiple instance on same page to work?

I have tryed everyone (I think) but with the same bad result.
