how can you get the events detail page to to go the main events detail page or a page you can customize? I have the small calendar on my home page and when you view the event details it destroys the home page or goes to a new page which is not formatted properly.  - EG - ccwny.rlcomputing.com

Hi renee,

The events module in effect has three options currently:-

  • Display the detail page in place, in which case it replaces the the month view. This happens when Event Detail New Page is unticked.
  • Display on a new empty page, when Event Detail New Page is ticked. This page is then formatted in one of two ways.
    • Using the site admin skin - when Use Module Container & Skin is unticked
    • Using the page skin, and module container from the page the month view is displayed on - if Use Module Container & Skin is ticked

When displaying on a new page, it places the module content into the ContentPane, which is the way that the DNN core handles it, and is not controlled by the module (unless we completely re-worked how the module works for this functionality). On your site the module size on the new page is being controlled by the css in your container by the element c_events_head. It may be worth you controlling the column width on your home page in the skin.css rather than in container.css, which would remove width controls on the container and allow it to take up the available space on the detail page.

Hope this helps.

Roger

Thanks. I am not sure I am understand what you are referring too. I need to format the page the event detail goes to but it does not seem to be a physical page. right now it is going to a page that I have no idea where it is coming from. It is not using any template I have set up.  The small calendar is on the Home page template. then you click the event it should go to a page that uses the inner page template. Like I said I cant edit it.

so how can I control where people go when they want to see the detailed view? This is also a problem on the main large calendar. The top image is not displaying on that page for some reason. Seems like I really shoudl be able to control the formatting of this page.

Renee - you are right it is not a physical page. In effect it goes to a page as if you had created a new page on your site, and you can't edit the layout. This is the way DNN is designed to function (if you use the forum module, you will actually see the same effect when you go to edit a post). Without a substantial change to the modoule, we can't do anything about this at this time. You could include your top image in the skin, rather than as a module, then it would appear on the page, but this may not suit how you want your site to run.
