Again to keep folks informed, this problem was caused a DNN 5.0.1 bug - http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?id=9561&PROJID=2 - which meant that only one module instance on kewlgeeks portal got upgraded. I have put comments on what to do in this situation against Ernst Peters release announcement.

Thanks
Roger

I'm running DNN 5.5 and have just upgraded to the latest stable events module 5.1.4. However, I'm now geting the same error as others were "Argument 'Length' must be greater or equal to zero". Upgrade logs show no issues, autoupgrade was reset to true, and have restarted the app pool but still no luck on fixing this.

event viewer shows..
Message: DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: Argument 'Length' must be greater or equal to zero. ---> System.ArgumentException: Argument 'Length' must be greater or equal to zero. at Microsoft.VisualBasic.Strings.Left(String str, Int32 Length) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Events.EventRecurMasterController.DecomposeRRULE(String strRRULE, DateTime DTStart) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Events.TokenReplaceControllerClass.TokenReplaceEvent(EventInfo eventInfo, String sourceText, EventSignupsInfo eventSignupsInfo, Boolean addsubmodulename)...etc

What am I overlooking?

Upgrading to Events 5.1.4 from versions prior to 4.1.0 will with the following error shown in the logs:-

Message: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Modules.Events.EventModuleSettings.SaveSettings(Int32 ModuleId) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Events.EventController.UpgradeRecurringEventModule(Int32 ModuleID, Int32 RecurMasterID, String maxRecurrences) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Events.EventController.UpgradeRecurringEvents() at DotNetNuke.Modules.Events.EventController.UpgradeModule(String Version)

This will become apparent when accessing a module instance, when the following error will be generated:-

Message: DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: Argument 'Length' must be greater or equal to zero. ---> System.ArgumentException: Argument 'Length' must be greater or equal to zero. at Microsoft.VisualBasic.Strings.Left(String str, Int32 Length) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Events.EventRecurMasterController.DecomposeRRULE(String strRRULE, DateTime DTStart) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Events.TokenReplaceControllerClass.TokenReplaceEvent(EventInfo eventInfo, String sourceText, EventSignupsInfo eventSignupsInfo, Boolean addsubmodulename) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Events.EventBase.CreateEventName(EventInfo objEvent, String template) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Events.EventMonth.EventCalendar_DayRender(Object sender, DayRenderEventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.WebControls.Calendar.OnDayRender(TableCell cell, CalendarDay day) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Events.ScheduleControl.MonthControl.DNNCalendar.Render(HtmlTextWriter output)

This error indicates the 4.1.0 upgrade failed.

The initial error is caused by some incorrect handling of setting in the ModuleSettings code.
