Event Conflicts

Steps to reproduce:

1.)    On Event Module Settings  Check  Prevent Schedule conflict

2.)    Click the Update button

3.)    Add Category

For Example:

 Plant 1 (Conference Rm.)

 Plant 1 (Guest Room)

4.)    Add Location

For Example:

Conference Room P-1

 Guest Room P-1

5.)    Add a Test Event

For example: Start Date /Time – 4/6/2009 8:00am

                         End Date / Time –  4/6/2009 9:00am

Assign category : Plant 1 (Conference Rm.)

Assign location: Plant 1 (Guest Room)

6.)    Click update

7.)    Repeat steps  5  having same values for Start Date / Time and End Date / Time except for category.

Assign different values for category. ex. Plant 1 (Guest Room).

Notice that it notifies a schedule conflict which is supposedly not correct hence the event will be assign to a different category.

Hi,

I think what your are pointing out is that the model shows an event conflict when you have different category events at the same time. The module does not check for different categories when doing conflict checking. In 4.0.2, it only checked on time. In 5.0.0 it can also check for location.

Roger

Hi Roger,

Thanks for the reply, yes you got my point...could it be possible to add that particular feature at  least in 4.9.x? My DNN 4.9.2 website is currently working fine im glad if you could help me even if it just check for location similar to 5.0.0.

Thanks,

albert

Hi Albert,

Please raise a request on Gemin. The (short) details on how to do this are in my signature strip. Note that this support doesn't come from DNN (which is what version 4.9.2 is), but from the Events module (current release candidate is 5.0.0).

Events 5.0.0 is going through the release tracker, and hopefully will be in production soon. Version 5.0.1 which will be a stabilisation (bug fix) release is in production as well with some minor bugs. The type of change your are requesting here would not make it in until the following major release, which is planned to be 5.1.0 and is likely to be some months away.

Cheers
Roger
