Hy

In the Event List Settings I can choose the Event Fields I want to display. The thing is, these fields have an number that determines its order of appearence.

For example, no matter the order you choose them, the Start Date will always appear before the Title (to the left that is)

Is there A way I can change this ? I have been looking in the ascx files, with no success. Do I have to twik with the DLL files ?

Hi  Mark,

In theory you could move the order in the ascx file, then set the right numbered columns in the module settings (you could rename the columns that appear in the module settings through changing the settings.resx). I think that would work, but not 100% since I haven't actually done it. The only gotcha I think is that currently column 4 is madatory (Title column).

The capability to change the order via the module settings is something we are looking at, but hasn't made it into the current release candidates, and won't be in the final version of the next release.

Cheers
Roger

An alternative to modifying the module code would be to simply roll your own event list.  I do this quite often using free SQL modules -- you just drop the SQL module on that page and set an appropriate SQL query (or call to a stored procedure) in the module settings.  Very easy and very quick.

I've previously blogged a couple of simple examples for the EVENTS module as follows:

Free DNN Module:   Advanced Datagrid Part 2 (add an events"status table" for the DNN EVENTS module)
   http://www.eguanasolutions.com/DNN_Blog/EntryID/5.aspx

Free DNN Module:  SQLView (sort EVENTS module events by City / County / State)
   http://www.eguanasolutions.com/DNN_Blog/EntryID/15.aspx

If that looks like a potential solution for you then you might be interested in some related posts:

Free DNN Module:  Advanced Datagrid Part 1 (create list of most recent user signups)

Free DNN Module:  Advanced Datagrid Part 3 (create a clickable "most-commented blogs" list)

Thanks Mamlin, much appreciated. Hopefully you will update these blogs when version 4.1.x gets finalised . I think the next version should make life easier, certainly in the area of recurring events, which will be much easier to process in add on modules such as you are suggesting.

Cheers
Roger
