OK guys,

I've found the problem and debugged it down to the cause. I really can't enter all of the text again, so please check out my post in the

"Chat about it!" forum here for the explanation.

As for a solution, unfortunately  it needs a code fix and although I now have a Visual Studio 2005 dev environment running DNN5.0.1 I don't have the Map Module integrated into this yet to be able to code and test a fix. If you can bear with me for a couple more days I think I should be able to test and compile a new version of the DLL once I work out how to install the Map module into the website and the source code project.

The ultimate solution will be to get the bug I'm about to enter against the core module fixed, but I'm guessing that may take a bit longer than a couple of days

Sean

Sean -great news, thanks for signing up for a "head ache" and getting to the bottom of this :)

More than happy to wait patiently for a great module such as this!

No problem, it's been a few years since I've done anything with .NET really so this is helping to ease (?) me back into it. Ease may be the wrong word there but anyway

From the response I got in the other forum it looks like I'm going to have to raise another bug against the map module to try and get them to cope with the Core change, but I'll see what I can do to help you guys out. I'm going to try and fix it and build you a new DLL that you can use until there's an official fix. That'll be another first for me though (building the DLL from the source) so bear with me and I'll see what I can do.

I agree with you though, it's an awesome module and it'll be even better when all the creases are ironed out

Sean

Hi Sean,

i ran the mentioned query from the sql-server-admin-interface against the used dnn-database and got NO hit...

(I do also have the same situation: no points and if i add a point i get the same message as ataheri)

Thx

Urs

Hi Urs,

Interesting that you got no hits, I would have expected the same result as ataheri, i.e. at least finding it in the Event Log tables. Anyway, the situation right now is that the bug in the core has been fixed but won't be released until DNN 5.1.0. This means that the only option is to do a temporary fix to the Map Module to obtain the version number a different way.

Although the code change itself is relatively easy, when I compiled the new version of the DLL and uploaded it to my own website, the Map Module doesn't render any more. So, I'm not sure if it's the code change I made (I doubt this as it's a very simple change), or the procedure I followed when building an uploading the new copy is wrong.

Having never done anything like this before (updating the DNN source) I don't know if there's a procedure I have to follow to update the new DLL onto a site. Basically then, I'm stuck with helping you guys any further unless someone helps me to figure out how to get a new build of a DLL in place

I've asked this question in the corresponding thread on the "Chat About It!" forum but no-one has replied to it so if there's anyone else here reading this who can help, please let me/us know!

Sean
