Hi,

I want to change the category menu so that it renders the category hierarchy using and unordered list (<ul><li> etc). Does anyone know of a way of doing that without touching the module code? I'm considering that option as well, but wondered if there is a way of doing it changing only the control markup or configuration.

Btw, as a future enhancement to the module, I'd propose changing the module so that it renders the categories in this way by default. It seems a more natural way to markup a hierarchy than using nested tables, and would certainly be easier to style. It would also make the category menu a lot more search-engine friendly, and improve it's accessbility.

Also, in the 2.1.30 source package, there doesn't appear to be any code-behinds for the module controls. Is that code not distributed?

Another comment (I'm collecting a few as I work with the module): if considering improvements to the markup generated by the Category Menu, it would be worth considering adding classes to the first and last subcategories for any given parent, as you frequently want to do something different with them, and currently it's difficult to select them properly in css.

Hi,

You have to modify the source code to do this. Different rendering options is on my loonnnggg to do list!

Ask yourself what your reaction would be, if you were approached by me (a total stranger) on the street to ask you something without saying "Hello" nor "Thank you"? After several years of services dedicated to the community, I begin to be tired to read requests without any form of politeness.
